LIFESTYLE, LEISURE, PLACES & HOME

Titanic Spa

One of my favourite places to be in Huddersfield and I place I visit regularly for some R&R. Set in the Colne Valley, Titanic Spa is a multi award winning spa set in the Pennines in a restored 20th Century textile mill. It has a huge range of treatments, facilities including its award winning steam rooms and guests can visit for the day, a few hours in the evening or indulge in an overnight stay. The restaurant serves a wide variety of locally sourced produce along with an extensive bar. A visit to the gym, a dip in the pool or jacuzzi adds to your visit.

My mum, Belle, Kate and myself enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Spa last week including a delicious meal and some much welcomed pampering! As soon as I enter through the doors I’m transformed & I instantly relaxed, it’s the ultimate in self care!

A wonderful evening with the girls in my family, something that’s become a regular occurrence, and we’ll be back for another visit very soon!

BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE

Back to the Gym – New Year fitness & health routine

I knew this year, in order to stick to exercising this year I needed a goal so, I may be mad, but I’ve signed up to Tough Mudder in July!!!! There’s a big group of us doing it so I know we’ll have a fab time, but I’m determined not to be last or the most unfit so I’m on a mission to get back to the best version of myself! I’ve joined my local Trugym which has everything I need, including a pool and so far, I’m loving it. I like the feeling of self care & being motivated. I put an inspirational podcast on and I’ve been going 3 times per week.

RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH

The Whippet & Pickle – Holmfirth

The Whippet & Pickle is a lovely fine dining restaurant located in Holmfirth’s Town Gate on the outskirts of Huddersfield. My brother & sister-in-law go often as they live close to the restaurant and last Saturday evening the four of us arranged to go together for an evening  meal.

Unfortunately, almost as soon as we sat down there was a bit of trauma as the man on the next table almost choked to death but luckily his friend saved him! As if that wasn’t dramatic enough, within minutes of him calming down his wife started having a huge fit and then hjad a big stroke. The next hour was spent trying to keep her conscious whilst waiting for the ambulance. The staff at the restaurant were excellent and coped really well. We did eventually eat and the food was good but slightly overdone due them having to hold it whilst everything was happening. Absolutely not their fault and they did a great job keeping everything moving. So it was a bit of an eventful night and not the relaxing evening we had planned but that really is life!! We will go back as the restaurant is lovely and I want ton sample their menu under normal circumstances. I just wish we knew how the lady was as once the ambulance had taken her we’d no way of knowing!

COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH

Raspberry Paloma

Muddle 5 raspberries in a cup. Once muddled, add ½ ounce lime juice, 2 ounces grapefruit juice, and 3 ounces  tequila, Shake for 10 seconds and then add ice. Strain the cocktail into a separate glass and top with 2 ounces club soda.

FILM/TV SHOW OF THE MONTH

And Just Like That

Like many women my age I was a huge Sex & The City fan so when I heard about this new series I couldn’t wait! But…… 7 episodes in & I’m really still not sure it’s working!!!!

Whilst I agree that the old series was not inclusive enough and needed to be far more diverse (it was of it’s time & thankfully times have changed) I can’t help feel they’ve gone about it in the wrong way. To me it’s trying to be so diverse that it’s just a series of cliches and I’m not finding it either funny or gripping. I feel like a traitor saying this as I really am a super fan of SATC, even the bad 2nd movie, and I will continue to watch it to continue the journey with the ladies, but I really am yet to be convinced!!!!
