AUTUMN TOUCHES FOR THE HOME

Somehow, it’s already the end of September, how did that happen? The weather throughout September has been lovely so it’s still felt like Summer & I’ve managed to squeeze a few more weeks out of wearing my Summer wardrobe but, yesterday, there was a big drop in temperature and it all suddenly felt Autumnal (oh that lovely but very over used word we all use each time September comes around!)

So today I spent a lovely Sunday at home cleaning, pottering, and sorting out the house ready to add a few Autumn touches for the change of the season.

I’ve definitely felt the chill today and top of my Autumn shopping list is a new throw for the living room. I love to snuggle up whilst writing or watching TV. I also want to add some new cushions to the living room sofas that are a little cosier than my summer ones. My living room colours are browns and teal and most of my cushions look amazing but more like show home cushions & they’re not comfortable lived in ones which annoys Tony, Belle and Max so, this Autumn/ Winter I’d like some of the soft faux rabbit fur cushions in brown shades. They’re so soft and extremely comfortable but also look lovely and keep the living rooms aesthetics looking good.

I do love the change of seasons and the 3 things I love to change with each season are my candles, flowers, and wreaths.

I adore candles and they really give you the feel of welcoming in the new season. I adore the White Company and have just purchased their new ‘Autumn’ candle which smells divine & fills the house with a wonderful aroma. They have a matching reed diffuser also which I’m going to treat myself to soon.

As soon as Spring hits I fill my house with daffodils, and I adore fresh flowers in my kitchen all year round. At the moment I’m enjoying my beloved Gladioli in my home and the stunning coral coloured ones are just beautiful.

I think a beautiful wreath gives a classy, seasonal look both inside and outside the home and they are definitely not just for Christmas. I have one for each season which I use on my kitchen table as a large candle surround. My Autumn wreath is rustic with baby pumpkins nestled amongst stunning autumnal coloured leaves & berries. At Christmas I also have one on my front door & I’d like to get an outdoor one for Autumn too. I love to place pumpkins outside my door in October, but I’d like to go all out this year with some more Autumn touches outside.

Being in local lockdown we might not be able to have people round to our houses at the moment but its still important to make your home as beautiful & cosy for you and your family. My mood is very much enhanced by my surroundings every day so it’s especially important for me to make our home as beautiful as possible for my family & I which is something I love to do.

What other seasonal touches do you ass to your homes?

I’d love to hear your tips and ideas. X
