HAPPY SWEET SIXTEENTH BELLE!
How on earth am I mum to a 16 year old?
On the 1st of March, 16 years ago I gave birth to the love of my life and became a mummy for the first time. It was pure love & adoration instantly and that love gets stronger as each year passes.
Isabelle has always been a complete joy & she lights up a room when she walks in it. She’s bright, fun, witty, thoughtful, sensitive & kind and she has lots of ambition for her future. She will always be my baby girl but over the past year she’s grown into a beautiful young lady inside and out.
It’s been a tough year for everyone in lockdown but, in my opinion, I think it’s been hardest on teenagers & young adults. These are the years they should be out exploring life and discovering new things, not spending 24/7 with their mum & dad. We’re a very close family but I want Isabelle to be out having fun with her friends. On top of that there’s the added stress of GCSE exams which are completely different to normal and Isabelle is right in the middle of them at the moment.
To say I’m proud of her is an understatement. She’s achieved so much over the years at school, dancing, singing and drama plus she can turn her hand to anything such as cooking, sewing, baking amongst many other things but, how she’s coped this year in lockdown has been astonishing. I know a lot of teens who haven’t coped well at all but Isabelle has taken each day in her stride. I’m not saying she hasn’t had tough days but she’s made the most of it and come through it as a shining light. I’m just praying her exams go well and she gets into her college of choice ready to start a new adventure next year. Then there’s driving lessons, part time jobs, going out & having fun as soon as lockdown lifts.
Her 16th birthday, although in lockdown was a beautiful day. She was extremely lucky with gifts and I tried to make the day as special as possible with a stunning cake, balloon displays, gifts galore, birthday breakfast, door step visits, favourite takeaway meal, a glass or two of bubbly and lots & lots of love.
Happy Birthday my beautiful, kind, funny & loving Belle!
I love you more than words can say! Xxx
