HELLO FEBRUARY 2021
It’s February at last!!! Gosh January in lockdown (whilst doing dry January no less!) was looooooong. It’s still cold but somehow things feel a bit more positive & I can’t wait for lighter nights & longer, brighter days.
FABULOUS THINGS THAT HAPPENED LAST MONTH
1. Max’s 13th Birthday. I can’t believe my baby is a teenager.
2. Making his day as special as possible & seeing him so happy!
3. I completed dry January. Very proud of myself & I feel much better for it.
4. After a bad first week of the New Year I found my positive mental attitude & I’ve been really motivated.
5. Doing ‘The Magic’ a 28 day programme of practices by Rhonda Byrne
LIFESTYLE, LEISURE, PLACES & HOME
Putting Spring touches & luxury into the home
I adore putting the Christmas decorations up but on New Years Day I love taking them down and giving the house a big clean & freshen up. I like to get my spring candles out for fresh linen smells to replace the Christmas scents. I adore daffodils and as soon as they are out, I always have them in the house. To me they symbolise fresh starts & new beginnings & this year we need that more than ever. It’s still very dark & dreary but I’m looking forward to lighter nights & brighter days soon. I can’t wait to be able to throw the windows open more & let the fresher air in.
We’re in the process of a few home improvements at the moment which always makes you feel better. A change is as good as a rest they say. We’ve changed our living room colour scheme so I’m enjoying picking out a few new soft furnishings such as cushions & throws to make the room cosy & luxurious. Our bedroom is next and I can’t wait to make it as glamorous & beautiful as possible.
BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE
Derma Vio Foot Peel Mask Review
I’d heard about these ‘foot masks’ & so when my mum gave me one, I decided to give it a try. What I didn’t expect was to think my feel were peeling away to nothing!!!!
As a dancer & now dance teacher my feet are not the prettiest & I had a big dry skin build up. This mask is easy to use, you just wrap your feet in it & leave it on for 90 minutes which I did whilst watching something on TV.
Once you’ve rinsed it off that’s it & it says it will take around 7-10 days to start working.
After about 11 days I didn’t see any change in my feet, so I presumed it hadn’t worked on me but then one morning I woke up & the peeling had started. From then on for over 2 weeks or maybe longer every ounce of dead skin peeled off my feet!! It was actually quite amazing, if rather gross, but the skin underneath felt baby soft for the first time in years. I’d definitely do another one when my feet need it & they definitely work, even with ‘hard worked’ feet like mine!!!!
The price is amazing too at only approx £1.95 per mask depending on where you purchase it from.
COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH
After doing dry January I was definitely ready for this cocktail as soon as February arrived!
Prep: 5 mins
Go pink with this fabulous cocktail flavoured with pink gin, rose vermouth and Aperol. Garnish with a wedge of pink grapefruit and a basil leaf to serve
FILM/TV PROGRAMME OF THE MONTH
The Queens Gambit
To think I was riveted watching a programme about Chess was quite a surprise but this wonderful 7 part series was far far more than this. I can honestly say it’s one of the best things I’ve watched in a while & the directing, production, performances & visual aesthetics were outstanding. Telling the story of Beth Harmon who, after being sent to live in an orphanage at the age of 8, discovers she has a huge talent for Chess. Anya Taylor-Joy is superb as Beth & I binge watched the entire series in one day! I highly recommend this amazing Netflix Series.
THIS MONTH I’M LOVING
Getting my motivation back & working on my goals for this year & the future.
THIS MONTH I’M NOT LOVING
Everything just seems a bit bleak at the moment with not much to look forward to for anyone. I’m staying positive though, things will still get better eventually.
THIS MONTHS FAVOURITES
1. The White Company Winter candle
2. Only Fools & Horses. It never gets old!!
3. The Bay on ITV – bit late with this but it was excellent & I’m looking forward to series 2
4. Elemis Cleansing Balm
5. The Serpent, BBC’s new crime drama based on a true story
6. The Queens Gambit on Netflix. I binged watched it all in one sitting & loved it!!
7. The Magic – The book by Rhonda Byrne
8. ‘It’s a sin’ an outstanding tv series on channel 4 highlighting HIV & Aids in the 1980’s. Utterly heart-breaking but I watched it twice & I’ll watch it again as it was so brilliantly done.
