Tips for throwing a fabulous Summer BBQ party
What’s better than a summer BBQ with friends on a sunny weekend? At the moment as we can’t go to pubs or restaurants BBQ’s in our gardens are our only real way of socializing so I’m definitely making the most of it.
First of all, making sure your BBQ is in good working order is imperative, ours had had its day so we purchased a new one as soon as Lockdown kicked in.
Then, get the drinks sorted. I like to cater for my guests and get what they all enjoy drinking plus I always make up a huge jug of sangria with lots of fruit. Soft drinks for kids and drivers need to be stocked up on too.
I like to do salmon and steak along with chicken, burgers and sausages plus new potatoes finished off on the BBQ with rosemary ang garlic. I always make a big salad and have lots of choices for condiments.
I’ve got a dinner service especially for outdoors along with a big condiments & cutlery basket. I also have unbreakable champagne glasses to have in the hot tub.
Lighting always helps make a party whether it’s inside or out, so good garden lights help create the right atmosphere and I have lanterns with candles in on the tables. A wood burner or fire pit is useful so you can stay out longer when the weather gets a bit cooler. Last but not least, a great play list gives it the finishing touch but don’t upset your neighbours by playing it too loud.
If it’s a special occasion balloons and bunting look nice and make it feel a bit more special.
BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE
5 in 1 Skin Tightening Facial massager by Manli
I was a bit sceptical when I bought this but it was early on in lockdown and I was going a bit mad online shopping like most people were to make themselves feel better!!!
I had plenty of evenings free to pamper myself so I used it most nights after cleansing, toning and moisturising and I have started to see a difference in my skin tone as the time goes on. It’s not a miracle worker and wont get rid of all your wrinkles but. for someone in their mid 40’s like me, where wrinkles aren’t too bad but fine lines are creeping in, I’ve found this is really helping.
It feels lovely and is very relaxing so its worth it for that alone and with the exercise it gives your facial muscles my skin tone definitely looks better.
I paid £49.99 for mine but there are cheaper versions available.
COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH
What Could be more Summery than a delicious Aperol Spritz
Soda to top up
Slice of orange to garnish
FILM OF THE MONTH
Lion King 2019
I wasn’t too bothered about seeing this film as I didn’t see how it could be any better than the original & no, it’s not better but, it’s just as good in its own way. The realism is astonishing and the computer animation and voiceover performances are all outstanding. I highly recommend it however, some of the fight scenes are extremely realistic and quite gruesome so I wouldn’t let children who are too young watch it.
