LIFESTYLE, LEISURE, PLACES & HOME
Titanic Spa – Linthwaite, Huddersfield
One of my favourite places which I’m lucky to say is in my home town. Titanic Spa is set in the hills of the Pennines in a restored 20th century textile mill and offers day or overnight visits. The spa boasts outstanding facilities, steam rooms, jacuzzi, swimming pool, Gymnasium, a wide range of beauty treatments, a restaurant and cocktail bar. It’s the perfect place for escapism and the height of luxury & pampering. I’ve visited many times (including twice this month) and I have never been disappointed. I’ve already booked my next visit next month!!!!
BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE
Self Care Days after a busy work month – A ‘Glow Up’
After a busy few weeks at work I’ve just found out I have to isolate for 10 days, talk about 1 extreme to the other!!!!. Annoying & difficult when you run your own business as I now have to rearrange all my weeks classes, but, I’ve been feeling very tired lately so I’m going to use this time to catch up on some sleep and a bit of self care which I really need.
This evening I am going to have a very luxurious bubble bath complete with candles, wine and a lush bath bomb. I prefer showers in the summer but the weather is so cold & wet a bubble bath will be wonderful. Before my bath I’ll be giving myself a facial to perk up my tired looking skin & give it some glow. I’ll be using Garnier miscellar water to remove dirt & makeup, Elemis pro collagen cleansing balm, body shop coffee face mask and then Elemis pro collagen marine cream moisturizer & elemis pro collagen advanced eye treatment after my bath.
A deep hair conditioning treatment left on whilst I’m in the bath will hopefully do its job whilst I watch Lydia Millen & Fashion Mumblr’s latest YouTube videos!
RESTAURANT OF THE MONTH
Grapollo’s – Hudderfield
Situated in Huddersfield (I’ve not had much chance to venture further a field this month), Grapollo’s is a fun, friendly Italian restaurant with a fabulous atmosphere. The minute you walk in you are made to feel extremely welcome and, although it is always busy, they will always find you a table without it feeling too busy & cramped. The food isn’t fancy with any big frills but it’s absolutely delicious & plentiful with a wonderful menu to suit everyone’s tastes.
If you want a no frills fun night out with plenty of great food, this is your place!
COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH
For the sugar syrup
- 100g golden caster sugar
For the cocktail
- 100ml vodka
- 50ml freshly brewed espresso coffee
- 50ml coffee liqueur (we used Kahlua)
- 4 coffee beans (optional)
- STEP 1
Start by making the sugar syrup. Put the caster sugar in a small pan over a medium heat and pour in 50ml water. Stir, and bring to the boil.
- STEP 2
Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool. Put 2 martini glasses in the fridge to chill.
- STEP 3
Once the sugar syrup is cold, pour 1 tbsp into a cocktail shaker along with a handful of ice, the vodka, espresso and coffee liqueur. Shake until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels icy cold.
- STEP 4
Strain into the chilled glasses. Garnish each one with coffee beans if you like.
FILM/TV SHOW OF THE MONTH
Call The Midwife
I love the current series but I only started watching this fabulous programme a couple of seasons ago so I’ve started watching it from the very beginning. It’s so beautifully written and looking back at this time in history is fascinating. After a very busy period at work I’m loving immersing myself in this wonderful series.
