HELLO JUNE 2020

Two months in lockdown and although it’s a horrendous time for so many people I am definitely taking a lot of positives from it too. Learning new skills, family time and a slower pace of life definitely has huge benefits and we’re all getting to do the jobs that have been on our ‘to do’ lists for years.
The weekly clap for the NHS is a big highlight and I am in awe of these amazing men and women who are risking their own lives going above and beyond for others.
I do love how creative people can be in times of adversity. There are some people doing amazing things and we’re trying to do as many fun & different things as possible including things for charity, vegetable growing, come dine with me nights, Tik Toks to name a few.

FABULOUS THINGS THAT HAPPENED LAST MONTH

  1. Sitting down to family meals every evening.
  2. Expanding my skillset moving my entire business online by teaching my classes on Zoom
  3. Some unbelievable support from my clients
  4. Having time to spend with my kids, my husband, taking care of the house, going for lovely walks, online quizzes, BBQ’s, outdoor fun etc etc!
  5. Time to spend writing more which I’m loving

LIFESTYLE, LEISURE, PLACES & HOME

Starting to grow my own vegetables
One of the new things I decided to do at the start of lockdown was buy a mini greenhouse to grow my own vegetables. I thoroughly enjoyed planting it at and I’m enjoying tending to them every day. I’m finding it very therapeutic and it’s something I want to continue after this is over. I can highly recommend it for a bit of me time and hopefully I’ll have some delicious vegetables to show for it in a few weeks time.

BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE
Isabelle’s new Gel Nail Kit
At the beginning of lockdown I sent for a gel nail kit for Isabelle so she could learn to do nails as a little sideline & hobby (and also to do mine whilst my beauty spa is closed!!!)
It takes a lot of practicing but she’s done really well and I’ve been a willing guinea pig for her. Another skill under her belt and it’s certainly made me feel better having some nails on.

COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH
Pink Gin Prosecco Cocktail
Ingredients
100ml Gordon’s Pink Gin
100ml lemonade
50ml Prosecco
Ice
Strawberries cut into halves

Fill two large gin glasses with ice, add the gin and lemonade then top up with the Prosecco.
Add the strawberries to garnish and enjoy!

FILM OF THE MONTH
’12 Years a Slave’
I missed seeing this at the cinema and have been wanting to watch it for a long time but never had the time so what better time than during lockdown to do it.
The acting is superb from beginning to end but it’s certainly not for the faint hearted. It’s a heart wrenching film based on a true story and it’s horrifying to think what these poor poor people went through and that this actually happened. I highly recommend it as it’s a brilliant film but you need to be in the right frame of mind to watch it without a doubt.

THIS MONTH I’M LOVING
Family time and a slower pace of life for a while has been lovely.

THIS MONTH I’M NOT LOVING
Coronavirus and not seeing the rest of my family and my friends.

THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH
When you can’t control what is happening, challenge yourself to control the way you respond to what’s happening, that’s where your power is!
