HELLO NOVEMBER 2019
HELLO NOVEMBER 2019
After a crazy September and first half of October leading up to our show, I had a week off for half term and it was bliss! Tony could only get one day off so we had a good old fashioned family day in Blackpool with a few rides at the Pleasure Beach, fish & chips then a drive home through the illuminations. The day after I drove the kids, my mum and I up to Durham to Beamish Museum. I adored it as a kid and have been wanting to take Belle and Max for ages. Belle couldn’t wait but Max wasn’t too bothered although he did quite enjoy it in the end. After a very busy few weeks it was lovely to just have a change of scenery and some uninterrupted quality time with my kids.

LIFESTYLE, LEISURE, PLACES & HOME
The Alchemist Leeds
A favourite place of mine, we’ve been going to The Alchemist for a few years now and although I’ve been to the Manchester and Newcastle ones, Leeds Trinity is my favourite.
I used to go quite regularly but I hadn’t been for a few months so, taking advantage of a very rare Saturday off, my friend, her daughter, Isabelle and myself had a fabulous lunch with cocktails and a spot of retail therapy.
As always the atmosphere was fantastic and although it’s hugely popular and hugely busy the service is still great and we didn’t have long to wait to be served. A visit to The Alchemist for me isn’t complete without a Porn Star martini which I love and then my meal of choice was the delicious chicken Fajitas!
The food and cocktails were fantastic as always and it is a restaurant I will continue to go back to. There’s such a great buzz every time I go and I can’t wait to go back before Christmas as the ambience is always fantastic.
BEAUTY, HEALTH & STYLE
An amazing facial & massage at Koko beauty spa
After a stressful month I decided to treat myself for my birthday at one of my favourite places, Koko beauty spa. I go every 3 weeks for my nails and brows doing but I also like to have one of their fabulous & luxurious treatments from time to time. I haven’t had as much time for luxuries this year but this one was very much needed and it was nothing short of bliss!!
Kimberley, the owner of Koko runs a fabulous business in Kirkburton, Huddersfield which, lucky for me, is about 5 minutes from home.
It is much more than just a beauty salon and has a wonderful Moroccan feel to the holistic treatment rooms and the nail and grooming rooms are gorgeously glamorous. With a friendly staff, I love going and I’m so glad this gorgeous place is right on my doorstep.
Needing a lovely pamper and pick-me-up, my treatment of choice was the Koko Signature Face & Body – the following description is from their website.
KOKO SIGNATURE FACE AND BODY £58
[75 mins] – Our stunning, signature holistic facial. This treatment gives you everything from a muscle melting back massage, to an intensively nourishing facial including face, neck and shoulder massage. While relaxing with your face mask, you will enjoy a hand and foot massage, followed by a pressure point scalp massage…Absolute bliss!
COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH
Birthday Cake Martini
As it’s was my birthday last month I thought I’d try a Birthday Cake Martini to celebrate
1.5 ounces vanilla vodka 1.5 ounces cranberry juice 1/2 ounce champagne Rim glass with Sprinkles
Rim glass with Sprinkles Combine vodka and cranberry juice in an ice shaker, half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into glass. Top with Champagne. Drop in cherry. Enjoy!
FILM OF THE MONTH
Another film I’ve been desperate to see ever since I saw the trailer as I’ve been fascinated by Judy Garland for many years.
Oh wow!!! This film was just phenomenal and Renee Zellwegger really was something else in this role of a lifetime. Brilliantly acted, this film was, at times, uncomfortable viewing and quite harrowing to watch seeing what the late great Judy Garland went through. From such a young age she was treat appallingly both by her mother and MGM which turned her into an addict. It was so sad to see how such an icon ended her last few weeks totally penniless and abusing herself with drink and drugs. A hugely talented but hugely troubled woman, all she wanted was to be with her kids in the end but lack of money, home, stability and self control stopped her having custody of the children she truly loved. The performances, camera work and styling of this biographical film were spot on and I’d like to think Zellwegger will be nominated for an Oscar for this role.
THIS MONTH I’M LOVING

THIS MONTH I’M NOT LOVING
