I’ve been excited for this years birthday for weeks now. Not because I relish the thought of being 45 (agh! How did that happen?) but because of all the lovely plans I have & some time off.

I have been planning our annual show with my school for months and it’s been an incredibly busy year leading up to the show which was on the Saturday before my birthday week. It was a great success and I was thrilled with the reaction but, it’s also a huge weight off me as they are very stressful things to produce. Financially they cost thousands to put on and I am responsible for so many children backstage. Luckily I have a great team of helpers and I pride myself in that my students are fabulous performers on stage and impeccably behaved back stage.

So with that done and dusted for another year, although I’ve still got lots going on at work I could relax a bit this week and just enjoy being mum, being a wife and being me for the first time in weeks. IMG_1791

With my birthday on the Thursday, I had a whole week of lovely things happening.

Firstly the Sunday after the show I had planned for the 4 of us to just have a blissful snuggly day at home which consisted of a lie in (the first in as long as I can remember), bacon sandwiches and coffee, candles lit, lounge clothing on and a day watching movies & TV! Tony made a fantastic roast dinner and then I caught up on Strictly and the results show. When you’ve had an extremely busy period, knowing you have a whole day at home is as exciting as a fabulous day out! IMG_1784

On the Monday I had a fabulous day ahead. I’d booked a facial at my beauty spa https://www.koko-beauty.co.uk/ along with my nails and brows doing so I had a blissful couple of hours of pure indulgent pampering. A quick dash home to get ready and back out to The Woodman Inn https://www.woodman-inn.com/ where my lovely friend had booked us in for a champagne afternoon tea as a birthday treat for me. I can’t recommend this gorgeous IMG_1782venue enough and quite a few champagne & gins later I got home after the perfect day.

My birthday was on Thursday and my lovely mum had booked us in for a breakfast and spa morning at the fabulous 315 bar and restaurant. Spending time with my mum is always one of my favourite thing to do and what could be better than a morning in this stunning place which I’m so lucky to have on my doorstep? A delicious eggs benedict for breakfast then steam rooms and a jacuzzi with a cheeky glass of Prosecco made my birthday morning

blissful. http://www.315barandrestaurant.co.uk/

I did have to work on my birthday for a couple of hours but I was very spoilt by my family and friends.

Friday was a day off for me so I just had a nice day at home pottering, tidying and sorting and then getting ready for my birthday meal that night with Tony, Isabelle and Max. Having been to The Ivy and The Ivy Grill in London and was delighted when one opened in Leeds and I’ve been wanting to go for a while. My birthday was the perfect opportunity and Tony, IMG_1788Isabelle, Max and myself had a wonderful time. https://theivyleeds.com/menus/

Saturday’s are usually my busiest work day but, having working a lot of extra hours over the past few months I closed the school for a couple of days over half term. IMG_1783

One of my best friends and I had booked a table for us, Isabelle and her daughter at the Alchemist in Leeds Trinity Centre for lunch followed by a spot of retail therapy. I’ve always loved the atmosphere at The Alchemist and the cocktails and food are to die for.IMG_1781

We enjoyed a few porn star martinis and some delicious food with some amazing mocktails for Isabelle & then on to Restaurant Bar & Grill for a cheeky G&T before heading home and watching Strictly.

Sunday was another lovely day spent with my family with lunch at my Mum & Dads with my brother, sister in law and nephews also joining us.

I was very spoilt by family & friends with some amazing birthday messages, cards, flowers and gifts and feel very blessed.

So after a crazy, stressful and very busy time, this lovely birthday week was just what the doctor ordered. Spending time with family and true friends is really all that matters and I’m extremely lucky to have so many beautiful people in my life.
