Well I must admit, back in March when we went into lockdown, I never imagined we’d still be in some sort of lockdown by my birthday in October! What a year!

Despite new measures being brought in & the Tier system being put in place, I still had a wonderful birthday and I really am a very lucky lady. As it was on a Saturday I would normally be working all day but, due to some maintenance work at my studios I had an unexpected Saturday off which fell very nicely on my forty……. Birthday! Ok 46 but who’s counting?!

My birthday felt very Autumnal this year, a bit blustery, much cooler & darker ready for the long months ahead. I love occasions & last week I got our beautiful Autumn wreath out of the loft & displayed it with some seasonal flowers, candles & pumpkins so the kitchen looked lovely, cosy & very seasonal.

After waking up to some beautiful gifts from my family I then spent a blissful couple of hours at my beauty salon Clarity in Kirkburton, Huddersfield having an Indian head massage, Reflexology and a pedicure. Heaven!

A quick visit to see my mum & dad (through their window) as my mum has just had major surgery I then returned home to get ready for a meal out at our beautiful local restaurant The 3 Acres Inn in Shelley, Huddersfield.

The rules are now in place that we can only eat out with members of our own household but I was still really looking forward to it until 3 days before when Isabelle was sent home from school to isolate as someone in her class had tested positive. She insisted we still go out so we chose somewhere close to home so I could get back & still spend time with her.

We had a wonderful meal at this gorgeous & luxurious restaurant (see my previous blog post reviewing The 3 Acres).

Although quiet & personal I’d had a lovely day made all the better with lots of my close friends stopping by to drop cards, gifts & flowers off for me. Lucky lady!

Being on a weekend my brother & sister-in-law invited us to their house for a second birthday celebration on the Sunday as they have lots of outdoor space that they’ve made cosy & heated so they can still have family & friends around to their house during this period which was great. We had such a lovely day with them and my 2 nephews along with lots of Fizz and hot beef sandwiches. Perfect!

I couldn’t have had a nicer birthday spent with the people I love the most. A bit calmer & quieter than other birthdays but no less perfect. 2020 has been an awful year in many ways but spending times with loved ones it what matters more than anything and I feel very happy & very loved. X
