WEEK 14 – WHAT’S HAPPENING TO OUR WORLD? AT HOME IN ISOLATION DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS

DAY 92 – MONDAY 22ND JUNE
After a gorgeous weekend, I’ve spent the day pottering in the garden which I’m really enjoying at the moment. I then went to one of my close friends houses for a socially distanced drink in the garden which was absolutely lovely.

DAY 93 – TUESDAY 23RD JUNE
Today I feel utterly deflated as it was announced that pubs, hairdressers etc could open on 4th July but once again not dance schools. I just feel so cross as once people have had a few drinks there’s no way there’ll be any social distancing yet we can’t even take private lessons in a large studio. I’m all for socially distancing and following the rules, I’ve barely been out in weeks, but there’s just no logic in this decision and once again our industry has been ignored.

DAY 94 – WEDNESAY 24TH & THURSDAY 25TH JUNE
Oh my goodness, teaching in my living room with a heatwave these past 2 days has been so hard. The kids were too hot at home and 15 weeks dancing in our living rooms is starting to take its toll! They’ve all been such good kids but they need to be in a studio dancing together with their friends!
I’ve been so angry too as there’s photos all over the internet of Beaches that are absolutely packed with no social distancing what so ever which just makes me feel all of us good people isolating for 15 weeks has been for nothing!! Grrrr! I’ve been so positive in the whole of lockdown and trying my best to keep other people positive but this week I feel flat and deflated with it all.
An evening walk with Dora when it had cooled down a bit helped to clear my head. As always, I’m so grateful for where we live.

DAY 95 – FRIDAY 26TH JUNE
Ok, positive pants back on today! We’ve managed 15 weeks we can do a few more. It’s not been very sunny today so I’ve blitzed the house which always makes me feel better and planted some more plants in my garden! There’s nothing better than a spotless house, clean bedding on, laundry done and the garden all sorted and looking lovely.
Then, I was just about to get ready to host the weekly quiz night for my school when I had a phone call from a very upset Max saying he’d fallen off his bike!!!! I ran to the woods to get him and his lovely friend walked his bike home for me. He was very bruised and grazed and couldn’t move his arm much.
When we got home his elbow started swelling up so we had to cancel the quiz and take him to A&E. After an x-ray we were luckily told it was just badly bruised and no break. I’m so pleased as it would have stopped him doing so much. Kids are such a worry!! Lots of cuddles, hot chocolate and a movie made things a bit better for him!!!

DAY 96 – SATURDAY 27TH JUNE
It really is the little things when you look forward to going to Home Bargains and the Garden centre but that’s how today has rolled!!!! I channelled my inner Mrs Hinch and bought lots cleaning products and bits for the house and garden which I love doing.
Just a lovely chilled day at home relaxing and in the garden (in and amongst heavy rain showers) then making a lovely dinner for my family. Another Movie night finished off a peaceful day before my gorgeous nephews descend on us tomorrow!! I can’t wait!! We booked a lovely cottage in Cornwall tonight for the beginning of August and it’s so lovely to have something to look forward too. I’ve not been for years and have been wanting to go back so we thought this year was the perfect time as we usually go abroad on holiday but we still don’t feel safe going abroad this year.

DAY 97 – SUNDAY 28TH JUNE
Lovely day with my brother, sister in law and 2 nephews. Sadly it was too wet for a BBQ but luckily they’re in our bubble so we can have them indoors. The boys enjoyed going in the hot tub with Belle and Max and it was so lovely to hear them all laughing together! There’s a big age gap but Isabelle is like a little mum to the boys and they both adore and look up to Max!
Mum and dad popped round in the evening for supper which was lovely too and it all felt a bit more ‘normal’ which felt good.
So another week is over, ready to start week 15 and also to see how the relaxing of a lot of the lockdown rules will work next week. I’m so worried about a second spike which would just be a disaster in every way.
Anyway, I’m determined to be much more positive next week, I’m glad to see the back of this week if I’m honest.
