WHATS HAPPENING TO OUR WORLD WEEK 16
AT HOME IN ISOLATION DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS
DAY 105- MONDAY 6TH JULY
I drove over to my studios for the first time today to see that everything was ok and what will need doing on our return. It felt strange driving there and even stranger going in. A lovely big studio and my students can’ t dance there!
Whilst I was there I also met a past pupil of mine for coffee. She’s been in ‘Mamma Mia’ in the West End but sadly there’s no shows in London at the moment so she’s been staying back home with her parents.
Isabelle was back in school today, she’s not particularly enjoying it as not many of her friends are in on the same day but she knows it will make things easier when she returns properly in September.
Tonight I had arranged another workshop for my students which was a cast member from ‘Wicked’ teaching them some choreography from the show which was fabulous.
DAY 106 – TUESDAY 7TH JULY
Max had a morning in school today so they could all see what it would be like in September. In a way he was quite looking forward to it and he was with one of his good friends Jack so he was fine. I was just glad he had at least one day in school for a bit of normality and a change of scenery!
Class planning & planning for our next step when we can eventually open for me so just a quiet day at home all day! Apart from someone coming to valet my car not a lot else to report!!!
DAY 107 & 108 – WEDNESDAY 8TH & THURSDAY 9TH JULY
2 more very full days teaching on Zoom! The attendance was good and they all worked so hard but we’ve all had enough of online classes now. But…. we actually had some good news on Thursday evening to say we can re open at last on Saturday 25th July!! Lots of planning to do and lots of things to get in place BUT it means we can do our last week of term in the studios before we break up for Summer and we can do workshops during August. It will give everyone such a boost to get back dancing in the studios before we break up so happy days!!
DAY 109 – FRIDAY 10TH JULY
After being so happy last night I woke up to sad news that my beloved beauty spa will not be re opening. I’m gutted for Kim the owner as she’s put her heart & soul into it. I fear there will be many casualties of Covid over the next few weeks and months.
I took Isabelle and my Mum to Meadowhall for a girlie shopping day which cheered me up a bit. It was nice to be back doing ‘normal things’ and lovely to see shops open and doing well. The difference in social distancing in shops is huge though. Some are meticulous cleaning surfaces after each & every customer whilst some didn’t look any different to before. There weren’t many restaurants open yet but we ate in TGI Fridays which were spot on with their safety measures.
Day 110 – SATURDAY 11TH JULY
I’m making the most of Saturdays off now as once the summer is over I’ll be back to Saturdays being my busiest day! I’m not going to lie, having Saturdays off to get a full weekend has been amazing!
A lovely relaxing morning at home then we went for a lovely family dog walk. Later on we went to our local restaurant for tea, the first meal out as a family since lockdown began, and it was absolutely lovely. We know the owner well and she’s doing a fantastic job. It never fails to amaze me how some people can find anything to complain about though with some customers giving her a hard time over her social distancing measures even though it’s the law she has to abide by! Some people just love to complain which is so sad!
We finished off a lovely day with a prosecco in the hot tub which was fabulous!
Day 111 – SUNDAY 12TH JULY
A lovely family BBQ at my brothers house finished off a fantastic weekend. The sun stayed out all day for us which was wonderful after all the rain we’ve had recently. I adore spending time with my family, happy days!
